Refine, define, contour and restore volume without surgery

With age, our bodies gradually produce less collagen and elastin, the two major proteins responsible for maintaining taut, youthful skin. Our facial fat pads shrink and sink, and we even lose some of our underlying bony structure. These changes transform our skin and the contours of our face, causing the appearance of thinner skin and hollowness over time.

For an effective and versatile solution, many patients turn to dermal fillers. Fillers can enhance nearly any area of your face, delivering beautiful results with minimal discomfort and downtime.

Resurrect Skin MD raises the bar in aesthetic medicine. Led by Dr. A. Jay Burns, our exceptional standards are reflected in our team and the results we deliver for our patients. Our injectors are among the most skilled in the state, and we work continuously to develop our techniques and product knowledge. Bring your skin to life with natural-looking dermal fillers in Dallas.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are smooth, gel-like substances designed to fill lines and add volume to the skin. When injected into the skin with a needle or cannula, the product immediately plumps and contours the area.

RSMD uses dermal fillers to restore volume where volume has been lost over time in order to provide a natural result. Strategically placed fillers can take years off your appearance, enhance key features or bring balance to your face.

As the number of fillers on the market grows, so do the applications for these products. Today, the benefits of fillers extend beyond anti-aging needs to include lip enhancement, jawline contouring, cheek augmentation, nonsurgical rhinoplasty and more. Our team is skilled at selecting the best filler to meet your needs.

Injectable fillers are eventually absorbed by the body. After the initial treatment, most patients can expect to return to RSMD for maintenance treatments once or twice per year.

What Are the Benefits of Fillers?

Dermal fillers are now one of the world’s most requested nonsurgical aesthetic treatments. Their popularity is owed to a variety of factors:

  • Convenient in-office treatments

  • Wide product range with versatile applications

  • Safe for most skin tones and types

  • Little to no downtime

  • Immediately visible results

  • Natural-looking enhancement

  • Can be combined with other treatments

“Having fillers should never mean looking overfilled. We want you to leave your appointment looking naturally refreshed, so everyone notices you look great but no one knows why unless you tell them. Everyone on the Resurrect Skin MD team shares this philosophy.”

— Dr. Burns

What Can Dermal Fillers Do?

Dermal fillers have a broad range of cosmetic applications. Treatable areas include:

  • Temples

  • Tear troughs

  • Nose

  • Cheeks

  • Nasolabial folds

  • Lips

  • Perioral area

  • Chin

  • Jawline

  • Hands

  • Depressed acne scars

Hyaluronic Acid vs. Biostimulatory Fillers: What's the Difference?

Most of the popular fillers on the market today contain hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance that is naturally found in our skin. HA is very hydrophilic, which means it attracts and holds onto a lot of water. HA fillers add volume by physically filling in the area where they are injected, as well as by drawing water into the area to enhance the filling effect.

One interesting and useful property of HA fillers is that they can be dissolved to minimize or even reverse the effect if desired. This is usually unecessary, but it is nice to have this option if needed.

Biostimulatory fillers contain various other active ingredients that trigger the skin’s natural regenerative process. In addition to physically adding volume to the area, they gradually restore facial fullness by replenishing lost collagen. These fillers tend to last longer than HA fillers because the new collagen remains in the body after the product breaks down.

The downsides are that biostimulatory fillers take longer for onset than HA fillers and they cannot be dissolved.

What Fillers Are Available at Resurrect Skin MD?

We carry a range of fillers from various well-known brands. During your consultation, your RSMD provider will go over your areas of concern and your personal aesthetic goals to determine which product best matches your needs.

Juvéderm®

The Juvéderm collection of hyaluronic acid fillers includes Juvéderm Voluma, Juvéderm Volbella, Volux and Juvéderm Ultra Plus. Each product is formulated to deliver long-lasting results in different areas of the face, including the lips, cheeks or chin.

Restylane®

The Restylane family of hyaluronic acid fillers includes Restylane, Restylane Lyft and Restylane Contour. Treatable areas include the lips, cheeks, chin, smile lines and hands.

RHA®

RHA dermal fillers contain a form of hyaluronic acid that acts most like the naturally-produced HA in our skin. This helps the fillers blend more seamlessly with our facial structures and preserves the integrity of our facial expressions. Resurrect Skin MD is one of the first practices in the country to carry RHA Redensity, RHA 2, RHA 3 and RHA 4.

Sculptra®

Sculptra is one of the longest-lasting facial fillers available. Made from poly-L-lactic acid, Sculptra activates the skin's natural regenerative process to increase collagen production. This gradually and subtly restores facial volume and elasticity. Results can last up to two years with optimal treatment.

Like every product and device we offer, we have carefully evaluated and selected the dermal fillers available at RSMD. We only carry what we believe delivers superior safety and results for our patients.

If you have questions about a filler that is not listed aove, we would be happy to discuss the pros and cons of this product and explain why we believe there is a better alternative. Questions are always welcome and treated with honesty and respect at RSMD!

Am I a Good Candidate for Dermal Fillers?

Most healthy individuals are candidates for dermal fillers. You are likely a good candidate if:

  • You have aesthetic concerns fillers are designed to treat

  • You are physically healthy

  • You do not smoke

  • You are not allergic to any ingredients in the products

  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding

  • You have realistic expectations of what fillers can achieve

  • You are committed to the upkeep fillers require

All patients require a consultation before any cosmetic injectable treatment. Your RSMD provider will perform a full evaluation to confirm that you are a suitable candidate for fillers.

How Should I Prepare for Dermal Fillers?

Please take the following steps before your filler appointment:

Two weeks prior:

  • Avoid dental work, including routine dental cleanings

  • Avoid vaccines

  • Avoid infection/illness (inform your injector if you are not feeling well)

One week prior:

  • Avoid blood thinning medications and supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, Aleve, Vitamin E, fish oil)

  • Start Arnica to help with bruising (this is not required, but can improve your post-treatment experience)

One day prior:

  • Avoid alcohol

What Should I Expect During My Filler Treatment?

Your consultation may take place immediately before the procedure, but you will never be rushed. This is your opportunity to discuss your aesthetic concerns and learn more about the treatment options available to you in a relaxed and receptive environment.

Before proceeding with the injections, your provider may apply a topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort with the aid of the Accuvein light source. They will then administer the filler beneath the skin using a fine needle or cannula. You may feel a slight pinch or stinging feeling during the process, but overall, the treatment is relatively painless. Your injections will take place with the aid of a light source that will illuminate your blood vessels to reduce the chance of bruising.

Fillers can typically be administered in 15 to 45 minutes, after which patients are free to resume their regular routine.

What Is the Downtime for Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are one of the most convenient rejuvenation treatments available. You may return to most activities right away and side effects are typically mild, if they occur. Some patients experience mild redness, swelling, bruising and/or tenderness at the injection sites. There is no need to take time off work or your social life as long as you are comfortable with your appearance.

Please adhere to the following post-treatment guidelines:

  • Avoid makeup, touching the injected area, exercise and saunas for 24 hours

  • Ice swelling to reduce puffiness and discomfort

  • Avoid dental appointments and vaccines for two weeks

  • Inform us of any significant bruising — certain devices we have in-office can help bruises resolve faster

  • Contact us immediately if you experience abnormal blotching/changes to your skin color, severe pain, fever, redness/heat to the skin

We provide these instructions for your safety and for the best aesthetic outcome.

How Long Does It Take to See Results From Fillers?

With most fillers, an increase in fullness and/or definition in the treated area is seen right away. Keep in mind that the area may initially look overly full due to swelling. This swelling typically fades within a few days, and the filler will settle in about two weeks. This is when you can assess your final result.

“We believe that natural-looking outcomes begin with individually tailored treatment plans and prioritizing listening to our patients. We also believe that empowering our patients with education delivers better results. Our art-meets-science approach to injectables helps patients fulfill their aesthetic goals while maintaining and enhancing the harmony of their face.”

— Dr. Burns

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

The longevity of your dermal fillers will depend on which product we use, where it’s injected and your natural metabolism. Over time, the product will naturally break down, and the area will return to its pre-treatment appearance.

Most hyaluronic acid fillers last six to 18 months. Biostimulatory fillers can last longer, up to two years or more in some cases. Regular treatments will help maintain your results.
